Chelsea have confirmed defender Cesar Azpilicueta has committed his future to the club by signing a new four-year deal. The Spaniard joined Chelsea back in August 2012, just months after the club had lifted the Champions League trophy.
He has since become a mainstay in the Blues defence and he has won the Premier League on two occasions with the London outfit.
Azpilicueta has also won the FA Cup, EFL Cup and UEFA Europa League during his time at Stamford Bridge and the defender has made 298 appearances since leaving Marseille and he is hoping to help the club kick on in the coming years.
Speaking about his new deal, he told the club’s official website: “I am really happy to extend my stay here at Chelsea. Since I came, I felt the joy and responsibility to play for this club, these fans, and every time I go on the pitch I try do my best. Hopefully there is a lot to come and we can keep Chelsea where it belongs.”
