South Africa have been dealt a triple injury blow ahead of the final two Test matches in this year’s Rugby Championship. The Boks could still theoretically win the southern hemisphere tournament after their shock win in New Zealand last time out, although they would need to handsomely defeat the All Blacks again for that to happen.
Rassie Erasmus’ men wrap up the Rugby Championship with two home matches, the first against Australia on September 29 before their rematch with the world champion Kiwis a week later.
However, they will have to cope without a trio of backs for those matches after it was confirmed Damian De Allende (centre), Lukhanyo Am (centre) and Makazole Mapimpi (wing) will miss out through injury.
South Africa have also ruled out Willie le Roux and Francois Louw with both men being released to rejoin their respective Premiership clubs.
Erasmus is hopeful of bolstering his squad once a number of players have finished playing for their provinces and will be keeping a close eye on this week’s Currie Cup action.
“We are still keeping an eye on a number of players who we would like to involve in the coming weeks, but we would first like to see them get through their provincial matches this weekend,” said Erasmus.
“The players had a brief break after returning from New Zealand and I’m sure they will return fresh and energised for the last two matches.
“While we lost a couple of players to injury, but we are looking forward to possibly welcome back some others who have been playing for their provinces and recovered from injury. The two home matches will give us more time to work together as a group, to build on continuity and increase our depth.”Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
