Bolasie Strikes Late For Palace As Arsenal Stay Fourth

Nigerian youngster Alex Iwobi had a decent game but Arsenal failed to go back to third place in the Premier League table after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Alexis Sanchez put Arsenal in front before Yannick Bolasie drew Palace level late on.

Danny Welbeck was found with a pass from Mezut Ozil in the 6th minute but Welbeck couldn’t control the pass.

In the 19th minute Crystal Palace won a corner in one of their rare attacks but Scott Dann headed over the bar.

Iwobi had a chance in the 21st minute but Cabaye was on hand to block his attempted shot for a corner.

Petr Cech made a good save in the 28th minute following Yannick Bolasie’s strike.

Arsenal had a corner in the 35th minute which Laurent Koscielny headed off target.

In the 39th minute Arsenal won a free-kick off a foul on Welbeck but Sanchez effort came off the Palace wall and went away for a corner.

Ozil had Arsenal’s best chance on 43 minutes after a one-two with Sanchez which Wayne Hennesey save with his legs.

Palace were close to going in front through Connor Wickham in the 44th minute but he headed way over the bar.

Arsenal’s persistent pressure finally paid off in one minute of added time with Sanchez header off welbeck’s chip, looped over Hennessey and into the net.

Before the start of the second half Palace made the first change of the game with Bakary Sako replacing Mile Jedinak.

In the 51st minute a good work by Iwobi found Bellerin whose cross was cleared for a corner by Delaney.

A few seconds later Iwobi couldn’t connect with his head properly from Coquelin’s cross.

A minute later Welbeck met Iwobi’s back-heel but played the ball straight at Henessey.

Arsenal came close through Ozil on 58 minutes from a free-kick but his left curler narrowly missed the top left corner.

In the 63rd minute Emmanuel Adebayor went in for Wickham.

Welbeck almost got on the score sheet in the 65th minute but Henessey made a good block.

Sanchez, in the 67th minute, made a good leap connecting with Ozil’s header which went just off the post.

A minute later, a quickly taken free-kick by Ozil was met by a Sanchez header which missed the bottom left corner.

Arsenal made a double change on 75 minutes with Welbeck and Iwobi going off for Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey.

Palace also replaced Puncheon with Wilfred Zaha.

Sako met Cabaye’s corner which Cech tipped over the bar.

In the 78th minute Sanchez had a chance after bringing down Elneny’s cross but shot wide.

Bolasie made it 1-1 in the 82nd minute with his low shot beating Cech in his near post.

Arsenal made their final change with Theo Walcott replacing Elneny on 85 minutes.

In the 86th minute Gabriel headed Ozil’s free-kick on target which was held by Henessey.
