Bonfrere: NFF Should Go For a Foreign Coach

By Adeboye Amosu:

Erstwhile Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Jo Bonfrere believes only an expatriate coach can help improve the fortune of the team, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

The Dutchman, in an exclusive chat with Completesportsnigeria.com expressed concern over unimpressive showing of the three-time African Champions in recent international outings.

The former South Korea gaffer also backed the Nigeria Football Federation over the sacking of Stephen Keshi, stating that the performance of the team under his tutelage has nosedived since they won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

“I think the NFF need to hire a foreign coach to take charge of the Super Eagles,” Bonfrere told Completesportsnigeria.com.

“The Super Eagles have failed to make much impact since they won the African Cup of Nations in 2013 and it has to do with the inability of the coaches to take the team to new heights.

“Personally, I don’t think Stephen Keshi have what it takes to take the team beyond where they are now.

“So the decision made by the NFF to sack him was the right one.

“The next task before them now is to carefully look for a capable foreign coach that can help improve the performance of the team.”

  • Bonfre or whatever your name is, a journey man like you is not competent to comment on our football. We don’t need any foreign coach because you are all thieves.

  • This present nff are doomed for failure with their fight with players and coaches. No AFCON 2017 for sure! Now Keshi is gone. Enyeama is gone! Onazi is on his way. With these developments, many players are out there to not to honour any invitation or out there to sabotage them from qualification with Amodu as coach. Mark my word!

A very big thief, an opportunist. Keshi is not good but won Nations cup. Bonfere please go, we have capable hands in Nigeria that can coach eagles outside Keshi. We are not fools.

Well. Why call him a thief? You went to ask and he gave you his opinion. He is entitled to his opinion whether we like it or not.

Thank you. But we don't want you.
