Valtteri Bottas says he’s unsure if Mercedes will come out on top in Singapore and he expects a tight race at Marina Bay.
The Mercedes cars do not always perform at their best on the street circuits and Bottas admits they head into the upcoming Singapore weekend with question marks over whether the upgrades and improvements made will hand the team an advantage this year.
Bottas’ team-mate Lewis Hamilton did win in Singapore in 2017, profiting from an early collision between Ferrari drivers Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, but the Mercedes man was coy when asked about the team’s chances next weekend.
“The Ferrari is quick everywhere. Red Bull will be quick in Singapore. For us, we don’t really know how competitive we are going to be,” Bottas said.
“But we are going to go there, try to get more points than Ferrari.
“It is very close. There is not much in the cars, so it definitely will be interesting seeing in Singapore if we have made improvements for that kind of track.
“I think all the tracks coming up it really depends how good the upgrades we are bringing are going to be, and which upgrade they are going to bring. Any small gain is going to be a big benefit.”
Bottas sits fourth in the drivers’ standings this year but has yet to win a race, while Hamilton heads the table – 30 points clear of Vettel with seven races still to go.Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
