Marcel Brands insists he won’t break the bank to bring PSV Eindhoven duo Hirving Lozano and Steven Bergwijn to Everton.
Brands was appointed as the Toffees new director of football during the summer after an eight-year spell in the same role at PSV and he oversaw the signing of six players during his first transfer window, including the big-money arrival of Richarlison from Watford.
One or two eyebrows were raised when Everton spent an initial £35million to bring in Richarlison, but the Brazil international has impressed during the first half of the season.
Everton have been tipped to add to their squad in January, with PSV duo Lozano and Bergwijn the latest to be linked, but Brands insists they will not go overboard for either player.
“Of course Lozano and Bergwijn are interesting players, but €30m for Hirving and €20m for Steven, we will not pay that,” Brands told Voetbal International.
“For Richarlison we have indeed paid a lot of money, but he is 21 years old and has already shown it in the Premier League. He is likely to deliver double. “I do not know yet with Lozano and Bergwijn.
If Lozano would cost €20m, I would consider it, but at higher amounts, we look at players who have already proven it in the Premier League or in another big league.”Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
