Breazeale Eyeing Wilder-Tyson Winner

Dominic Breazeale wants to take on the Deontay Wilder-Tyson Fury winner for the WBC heavyweight title next summer. The 33-year-old boasts back-to-back victories Izu Ugonoh and Eric Molina after losing to Anthony Joshua when fighting for IBF heavyweight title in 2016, but he has been forced to wait for his mandated WBC heavyweight title challenge.

WBC champion Wilder makes a voluntary defence of his belt against Fury in Los Angeles on December 1, while the WBC are also supporting an ‘ultimate’ fight between Wilder or Fury and unified champion Anthony Joshua.

Therefore, Breazeale could have to wait even longer for his chance but the American insists he is ready to go whenever the opportunity arises.

“I hope I have that shot, the summer of next year,” Breazeale told Sky Sports.
“We know the Wilder-Fury fight is happening on December 1.

“Usually when a title of that big magnitude goes into effect, there’s a good six to seven months lay-off before the next opponent gets his opportunity, so I’m assuming the summer of next year.
“If it comes sooner, by all means, I’ll be ready for it.”
