Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton is delighted with Leon Balogun’s debut performance as the Seagulls beat Manchester United 3-2 on Sunday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The centre-back came in for the Lewis Dunk who copped an ankle injury in the 20th minute. And he was impressive as Brighton recorded their first win of the campaign.
“I was disappointed for Lewis. He’s a very tough boy and is rarely injured,” Hughton said after the game during his post-match interview.
“In Balogun, you have someone you know won’t be phased. He’s played at a very good level and played in the World Cup this summer.”
Hughton also believes the win over Manchester United will boost his team’s confidence ahead of their clash against Liverpool.
“It allows the group of players to go into the game with a bit more confidence.”
“They don’t come any more difficult than away at Liverpool, not only with the team they’ve got but the recruitment they had in the summer.”
“You hope we can play to some level like we did today.”
