Brighton captain Bruno Saltor Grau admits he was delighted to prove a point to himself after he returned for the win over West Ham United. The Seagulls’ fan favourite was back in the starting XI and played the full 90 minutes for the first time this season.
The 38-year-old made his first home start for five months and helped Chris Hughton’s men keep a clean sheet as they beat the Hammers 1-0.
Bruno admits he has had some doubts about his future, with fellow Spaniard Martin Montoya fighting it out for a first-team spot this season.
However, with Montoya injured, Bruno admits he was pleased with his display as Brighton ended their six-match winless run.
He told The Argus: “It was a massive challenge to prove again I can play at this level.
“It’s not easy every game to have to prove that. But I had to prove it to myself and to everyone as well.”
