Bruno Happy With Brighton Depth

Brighton captain Bruno says he is pleased with the competition for places this season and he feels it is benefiting the team.

The Seagulls were one of the busiest Premier League clubs during the summer transfer window as 11 new faces arrived at the AMEX Stadium, including club-record signing Alireza Jahanbakhsh who joined from AZ Alkmaar.

Yves Bissouma, Bernardo, Martin Montoya, Florin Andone, David Button, Dan Burn, Percy Tau, Peter Gwargis, Jason Steele and Leon Balogun were the other 10 players added to the squad.

Chris Hughton’s men, who lost 1-0 at Burnley last time out, are enjoying a positive season, with the club currently sitting 12th in the table – 11 points clear of the relegation zone.

Right-back Bruno, who has been in and out of the starting XI this term, believes the extra competition is bringing the best out of everyone. “We have really good depth in the squad, we have 25 really good players,” he told The Argus.

“All of us can play. That’s good for the gaffer but tough for the players. We want to play every single week. But, when we think as a team, that’s the main thing.

“We need to not be selfish, try to work hard and wait until the gaffer gives us a chance. That feeling is already there. I think we have been showing that. Players have been coming in, coming out and the team keeps performing well.

“We have injuries, we have suspensions, we have players out after they have been playing. But we are on 21 points, good feelings, we are playing well.”
