Goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon is relishing the challenge at Paris Saint-Germain and feels better than he was five years ago.
The 40-year-old left Juventus after 17 seasons to move to the Parc des Princes this summer and has already made two Ligue 1 appearances.
Many thought that he would hang up his boots after ending his international career and then exiting the Turin giants, but the veteran clearly felt he had more to offer.
The man capped 176 time for the Azzurri admits that it was not an easy transition but, now ensconced in Parisian life, is feeling as good as ever.
“After 40 years in Italy it’s never easy to change your life and environment overnight,” he told France Football. “Sometimes we end up building a comfort zone, and through fear or laziness we refuse to leave it because the new is always scary.
“I’m the complete opposite of that, I like to challenge myself. I’m a fiend for competition, I like to progress, face difficulties and understand what needs to be done to overcome them.
“If you were to ask me ‘do you feel different today compared to age 35?’, I’d say: ‘I think I’m better’.”Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
