Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice-President Yomi Osinbajo have expressed their delight following the Super Eagles’ 2-0 win against Iceland in their second Group D game at the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup clash on Friday.
The Super Eagles gave their quest of qualifying for the next round a huge boost following the impressive win against Iceland.
Ahmed Musa was the hero for the Super Eagles as his double in the second half secured the important win.
Musa’s goals mean he is the first Super Eagles player to score at two different World Cups.
“President Muhammadu Buhari heartily congratulates the Super Eagles on their victory Friday over the national team of Iceland in their second match at the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup,” the President’s senior media aide Shebi Garba tweeted.
“According to him, ‘I am confident that if our players believe in themselves, they can qualify out of their difficult group and even go very far in the tournament,” adding that “with determination, nothing is impossible.'”
“Two Goals!!! We are winning this. Bring it home our Super Eagles,” Professor Osinbajo was quoted on his verified Twitter handle.
