The high profile clash between Buruj Sports Academy and FCBEscola has been tentatively scheduled for Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.
The much anticipated matchup between two of the most exciting football academies in Lagos will kick off at 10am according to a release by management of Buruj Sports Academy.
The CEO, Dr Salaudeen Waheed, explained that the match would have taken place before now but for logistics and the fact that both teams have had a very busy period but now the way has been cleared for it.
He said: "To be honest, this match should have been held a long time ago. We wrote to FCBEscola and they responded positively, asking us to pick a date that would be mutually convenient for both teams.
"We lost valuable time searching for the right time and then we got involved in other things which postponed the game indefinitely until now. Thankfully we have a firm date which we have both agreed on and we intend to fulfil."
FCBEscola are Spanish giants FC Barcelona's first football academy in Africa and is modelled after the famous La Masia Academy in Spain where club legends like Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez amongst others were tutored.
Lagos-based Buruj Academy are also one of the best-run football academies in Nigeria having been founded almost 10 years ago. They have a record of helping young players actualise their dreams of playing professional football in Europe and have several former youth players already making waves abroad.
Buruj are set to travel to Europe for the Manchester Cup as well as the Welsh Cup in Wales later in the year.
