Brighton goalkeeper David Button is hoping he will get the opportunity to deputise when Maty Ryan heads off to the Asian Cup. Ryan joined Brighton from Genk in the summer of 2017 and he is yet to miss a Premier League game over the last two seasons.
However, that impressive run between the sticks is set to come to an end in January when he heads off to represent Australia at the Asian Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
Chris Hughton will turn to either Button or Jason Steele to deputise during Ryan’s absence and the former insists he is ready to step up to the plate and achieve his dream.
Button told Brighton’s official website: “It’s going to be a great opportunity for whoever gets the nod. It’s something I’m looking forward to. “It was part of the reason that I joined the club – it’s every player’s dream to play in the Premier League, it’s the best league in the world. To get that chance would be great for me. “I’m not getting too far ahead of myself, but if the opportunity does come, I’ll be ready.”Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
