CAF CL: Babatunde Set For Debut With Wydad Casablanca

Michael Babatunde is set to make his official debut for his new club, Wydad Casablanca in next Tuesday’s CAF Champions League group C game against Horoya Athlétique Club from Guinea on match day 3 at the Stade du 28 Septembre stadium, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Babatunde joined the Morrocan reigning champions, Wydad Casablanca in June for a fee of $1.5 million from SC Qatar after a two and half year spell in Qatar.

The 25 year old is excited to be featuring at the competition but hopes his arrival at the club can help Wydad Casablanca secure back-to-back successes in the elite African competition.

Wydad Casablanca defeated Egyptian giants, Al Ahly 2-1 on aggregates to win their second CAF Champions League title.

“I’m looking forward to the game in Guniea on Tuesday,” Babatunde told Completesportsnigeria.com.

“I have been settling in well here and I want to repay the club and the fans for their trust in me.”

“There is no reason why we cannot retain the title. We have a good team and an experienced manager.”

Wydad Casablanca currently tied on the same four points with their hosts on Tuesday, Horoya, lead the group C with four points from two games with a better goal difference of +2.

Mamelodi Sundowns are third with two points while Togo-Port are fourth with no point.
