Nigerian champions Enyimba will host Egyptian giants Zamalek in the first matchday of this year's CAF Champions League. Completesportsnigeria.com's ADEBOYE AMOSU wonders how the People's Elephants will fare…
WILL ENYIMBA'S RECENT FORM GIVE THEM CONFIDENCE TO OVERCOME ZAMALEK?
The Nigerian champions have suffered a dip in form in recent weeks having failed to record a win in their last four games in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
Coming up against Zamalek who are one of the best sides on the continent will be a tough task for the Aba giants and they must be at their best if they are going to bag maximum points in the game.
CAN ENYIMBA MAINTAIN THEIR IMPRESSIVE HOME RUN IN THE COMPETITION?
Enyimba despite their struggles on the road in the CAF Champions League this season have however won all their home games.
They defeated Vipers of Uganda 2-0 in the preliminary round and were in ruthless form as they trounced Vital'0 of Burundi 5-1 in their second home game.
Paul Aigbogun's men also against all the odds beat Tunisian side Etoile Sportive du Sahel of 3-0 in their last home fixture.
They will look to continue on that path when they file out against the dreaded North Africans on Sunday.
CAN THE PEOPLE'S ELEPHANT IMPROVE THEIR RECORD AGAINST NORTH AFRICAN TEAMS?
Sunday's meeting at the Adokie Amiesimaka Stadium will be the 23rd time Enyimba will be facing North African opponents in the competition.
Overall they have won nine times, drawn five and lost six.
They have also come up against Egyptian sides eight times in Africa's top club competition.
Their record stands at three wins, one draw and four defeats.
WILL MFON UDOH INCREASE HIS GOAL HAUL?
Mfon Udoh who endured a torrid time last season in the colours of Enyimba due to injury and loss is back to his best once again.
The versatile forward has scored seven goals in the CAF Champions League this season, the highest by any individual in the competition.
He will be desperate to add to the tally against Zamalek and help his side begin their campaign in the group stages on a winning note.
