–Midfielder boasts he knows Congolese side well
By Sab Osuji:
Warri Wolves midfielder, Bartholomew Ikechukwu Ibenegbu says he’s not fretting over his team’s clash with AC Leopards of Congo in the last qualifying game of the CAF Confederation Cup, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
“It’s not an individual thing, but personally, I know them too well”, offers the Supersand Eagles ace.
Wolves were drawn against the 2012 winners during Tuesday’s draws in Cairo Egypt. Leopards dropped from the CAF Champions League.
“But if it comes down to personal issues, I would say it presents me opportunity to avenge the defeat we suffered in 2011 CAF Confederation Cup when they eliminated us on away goal rule when I was in Heartland.”
Ibenegbu who is called ‘Mosquito’ believes Wolves have a rich squad strong enough to go past the Congolese in this last hurdle for the group phase of the continent’s second tier interclub competition.
“The fact they played in the CAF Champions League is a pointer they are strong.
“But we have an equally strong side, we never lost any game away from home in the competition and this also proves our quality.
“It’s going to be tough, I admit, but then we have what it takes to win and that we’ll do because we want to play in the group phase,” Ibenegbu stressed.
AC Leopards also saw off Kano Pillars in 2013 CAF Champions League on away goal rule.
