CAF Fine NFF, Egypt FA; Suspend Etoile’s Akaichi

The Nigeria Football Federation have been fined $5,000 and warned by the Confederation of Africa Football due to over crowding and lack of security inside the Ahmadu Bello stadium, during the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Nigeria and Egypt.

The fine, which was announced on Monday, was the decision taken by the CAF Disciplinary Board, at its sitting held on Monday 18 April 2016 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Also fined by CAF was the Egyptian Football Association during the return leg between Egypt and Nigeria in Alexandria.

The EFA were fined $5000, following the excessive usage of lasers in the course of the game which ended 1-0 in favour of Egypt.

In the CAF Champions League, Etoile du Sahel's player Ahmed Akaichi and coach Faouzi Benzarti, were suspended for offensive language and insults towards the referee in their 3-0 first leg loss to Enyimba in Port Harcourt.

Both Akaichi and Benzarti are to serve four match bans which will be in the CAF Confederation Cup, while Etoile du Sahel are to pay $5,000.

And in the CAF Confederation Cup, Nasarawa United's first round opponent, Generation Foot of Senegal, were fined $5000.

The fine was as a result of Generation Foot's fans throwing  missiles into the pitch in the return leg which ended 0-0, with Nasarawa progressing 2-1 on aggregate.

Meanwhile, other countries and clubs who fell under CAF hammer include Sudan, DR Congo, Club Africain of Tunisia and Zamalek of Egypt.
