CAF Names Nigerian Refs For Burkina Faso Vs Ethiopia

The Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed on its official website that Nigerian referees will take charge of a 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifying match between Burkina Faso and Ethiopia.

The Confederation of African Football, CAF,  had to reschedule the fixture for this weekend one week after the earlier date after peace returned to the French speaking West African country following the recent military coup in the country.

According to the Nigeria Football Federation, Alma Nwosu will be the referee for the game in Burkina Faso, with Hilda Nwokocha as first assistant and Mimicry Iyorhe as second assistant.

Another Nigerian, Flush Ajar, will be the reserve referee.

The NFF announced on its website that Cat's confirmation that the World Cup qualifier will hold in Ouagadougou means that the 2016 African Nations Championship final qualifier between Nigeria and Burkina Faso, slated for the Burkina Faso capital city on October 25, remains unchanged.

The match is the third round of the race to the 2016 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Papua New Guinea.

The winner of the fixture between Burkina Faso and Ethiopia will face the winner of the match between Equatorial Guinea and Ghana.

The NFF website further informed that the winner of the U20 Women World Cup qualifying match between Nigeria and Democratic Republic of Congo will confront the winner between Zambia and South Africa, for Africa’s two slots at the finals in Papua New Guinea.
