  • I think Nigerian clubsides should stop going for CAF competitions and NFF should stop funding them for these continental games. It’s always a shame watching these clubs representing Nigeria — whether it’s Enyimba, Rivers United or whatever. They are always second best in all of their games — a bad image to the Nigerian flag.

I watched this game briefly. The Ivorina club were all small boys (80 of the team looked under 20) and they were very sharp. The Nigerian team don’t utilize ball opportunties, most of them look past their prime and certainly not the best legs (bribery things like Yusuf’s case exposed it).

Corruption has affected every part of Nigeria so much Lokosa couldn’t make it to the last CHAN, but Okpotu has signed for a Moroccan club today. That is why the foreign-based players will continue to dominate Super Eagles and a foreign coach will be more trusted.

For me, I know Enyimba are wasting their time. They will crash out, even if the clubs participating are from Lesotho and Eritrea. The days of 2005 are gone. The clubs today are just shells. Simply not good enough.

    • Lokosa cudnt even pass trial in a small club side in Europe. Truth is our football back home lacks quality. I played street football during d 80s n 90s n for few under 13s n 16s. I was always in awe of players playing in our league then that I cudnt argue I deserve to be playing in d league despite praises from loads of football fans. But now, everytime I watch our homebased players, i somehow feel cheated I m not in this generation. For sure many of these today players will carrying my boot. Most of them are just not good enough to be called footballers. Skilless, lack power, lack that winning mentality, lack football brain, very unproffessional. Infact they lack almost everything. Everytime i hear people asking for homebase to be invited, I will be happy for such people to mention the last time that homebased player won Caf compettition wt his club. In the 80s n 90s, our homebased were either winning these cups or getting to the finals year in year out. The Amunikes, late Thomson Oliha, Friday Elaho, Friday Ekpo, Ayo Ogunlano, Uche Okechuku Tijani babangida,Ben Iroha, Monday Agbontaen n many more terrorised the whole of Africa. And it was difficult for Super eagles coach not to invite them
