CAFCC Q/Final: Enyimba Hold Rayon Sports In Kigali

By Adeboye Amosu

Enyimba held their hosts, Rayon Sports of Rwanda to a 0-0 draw in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup, quarter-final clash at the Stade Nyamirambo, Kigali on Sunday, Completesportsnigeria. com reports.

Rayon Sports dominated the game in the first half but found the Ifeanyi Anaemena led defence too strong to break down.

Theophilus Afelokhai however produced a big save in the 20th minute to deny the Gikundiro of scoring the game’s opening goal.

Enyimba took control of the game in the second half and were let down by their profligacy in front of goal.

The duo of Ibrahim Mustapha and Sunday Adetunji wasted clear cut chances in the 48th and 60th minutes respectively.

The return leg will take place next week Sunday at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba.

In another quarter- final game, Raja Casablanca beat their hosts, CARA Brazzaville 2-1.

The overall winners of both games will come face-to-face in the semi-finals of Africa’s second-tier club competition.

  • Enyimba should thank God for thier keeper, they would have come back with 2-0 defeat, they where very lazy

    • Don’t mind them. They suspended their best player and captain, Ufom Udoh and other key players and still expect to be at the same level. The 2nd leg is 50/50 and if Rayon scores (which they can based on the first leg performance), they’ll have the away goal advantage.

Foolishness of the highest order, discipline my foot! if they had lost, they will have been regretting their stupid decision by now. is it in crucial continental matches that you suspend player? at the end it is the club that will loose.
