Carabao Cup: Iheanacho Scores As Leicester Advance to 3rd Round; Etebo Shines; Balogun’s Brighton Crash Out

Kelechi Iheanacho netted his first goal of the season for Leicester City in Tuesday’s 4-0 Carabao Cup second round win over English Football League One side, Fleetwood Town at the King Power Stadium reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

A superb eighth-minute half-volley from Christian Fuchs gave the Foxes lead and in the 39th minute a header from Vicente Iborra made it 2-0 for Leicester City.
Iheanacho made it 3-0 a minute from the restart before the win was wrapped up by Rachid Ghezzal who curled in a stunning strike in the 71st minute.

At the Bet365 stadium, Oghenekaro Etebo made his debut for Stoke City in the competition for Stoke City who advanced to the next round of Carabao Cup with a 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town.

The Nigerian midfielder was outstanding in the encounter for Gary Robert’s side who made it two wins from their last two games. He played all 90 minutes in for the Potters.

At the Amex stadium, Leon Balogun’s Brighton Hove Albion suffered a second round exit at home to Southampton in the Carabao Cup.

The Seagulls were dumped out of the competition after substitute Charlie Austin came off the bench to score a late winner for Mark Hughes’s side, which settled a cagey cup tie between the two Premier League clubs.

Balogun who has been called up for the Super Eagles squad to face Seychelles in September away in an African Nations Cup qualifier was an unused substitute.

The battle for first team place is defintely improving our Super Eagles Players. Balogun has taking his opportunity and is gradually cementing his place in the first team of Brighton while Etebo is also working his way back to the first team of Stoke city. Kelechi and Iwobi just needs a little more consistency and hard work they will get theirs too, I know they have what it takes.

Last season, it was only Ndidi and Moses their were our first team regulars in England, this season I foresee us having up to 5 fist team regular in England in Super Eagles. Not to Add the Likes of Ekong in Itlay, Omeru and Simon in Spain or Ebuehi in Benfica. Then the Turkey contingent is also there.

Honestly, It is really looking good for Super Eagles and I foresee us gradually equaling and even surpassing our strongest Super Eagles showing of all time.
