Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock has confirmed he was in France to watch transfer target Emiliano Sala in action for Nantes this week. Warnock is after a new striker to improve his Bluebirds squad next month and he’s been busy checking out potential targets.
Nantes striker Sala is a player he is interested in and personally watched him in action in Nantes’ 3-2 win over Marseille on Wednesday as he scored his 13th goal of the season and also got an assist.
Cardiff boss Warnock confirmed he had been in France and even though he has multiple targets, Sala is believed to be his priority. He said: “We went all over, I went to watch a full-back, midfielder and striker. It’s alright talking about it, but it’s difficult in January. We’ve looked at five or six strikers. “We’ve got to find the players that we want and then recommend the players to the club. Then it’s down to the club to do a deal, whether it be permanent or a loan. “You will get knockbacks in January. We’ll try and have as many back-ups as we can.”
Nantes will not want to lose Sala but know the lure of the Premier League may be difficult to resist. Everton, Leicester, Burnley and West Ham have all also been linked with the 28-year-old.Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
