–After his 2014 World Cup outing
Scottish side, Celtic are prepared to recall Nigeria defender Efe Ambrose from his holiday after they were dealt a Champions League blow as the new skipper Scott Brown could be out of their crucial qualifiers against KR Reykjavik next week and three ties to be played to get to the group stages.
The midfielder was crocked just seconds into the Hoops’1-1 friendly draw with Rapid Vienna and has been sent for a hamstring scan.
New coach Ronny Deila admitted the prospect of losing his captain for up to six weeks would be a huge blow but could count on the Nigerian who was impressive for the Super Eagles at the World Cup.
“Scott got injured so we will wait and see how the scan goes. It’s a worry because we don’t want injuries but they are a part of football. I just hope that it’s not too bad and that he’s back quickly. Scott is a key player, he has the right attitude but we have other good midfielders and Ambrose could step in as well.”
Deila admits he’ll now need to get Nir Biton and Beram Kayal up to speed quickly. Both have had injury problems but Kayal came through nearly 90 minutes as Brown’s replacement.
