–Chelsea’s youngster hails fine qualities of Eagles defender
Chelsea youngster Nathanial Chalobah has described Kenneth Omeruo as an ‘animal’ on the football pitch.
The former Nottingham Forest player who has featured in all three of Chelsea’s pre-season fixtures so far told the club’s official website that the Nigerian international is one of the most down to earth players he knows.
Both players spent the second half of the 2013/14 season on loan at Middlesbrough and the 19-year-old versatile player believes Omeruo is a solid player and very competitive one.
“Kenneth is a really good friend of mine. He’s one of the most down to earth people I know. On the pitch he’s an animal though! He’s so competitive and he’s a good person to be around and have on your team,” Chalobah said.
“He was at centre-half most of the time and I played in front of him in midfield. He is very solid. To have someone like him behind you – and when you have a good relationship off the pitch with him as well – makes your life easier.
“He had been looking forward to going to Brazil for the World Cup and representing his country. I spoke to him before each game and to see him playing at the World Cup really put a smile on my face.”
Omeruo was impressive for the Super Eagles at the 2014 World Cup, helping them reach the last 16, but he has been loaned out by Chelsea to Middlesbrough for the second straight season.
