–Eagles star happy making it to the next round
Following Celtic FC of Scotland’s victory against KR Reykjavik in the qualifying round of the 2014/15 UEFA Champions League Tuesday night, Super Eagles defender Efe Ambrose says he feels happy helping his club qualifying for the next round of qualifiers of the money spinning competition.
Ambrose, who played a huge role in Nigeria’s participation at the recently concluded FIFA World Cup in Brazil, was on for the entire duration of the match as Celtic beat their opponent 4-0 to scale through on a 5-0 aggregate.
Speaking after the match, the Nigeria international said he was pleased with his performance in the encounter.
“First of all am happy we are through to the next round of qualifiers, am happy over that but am particularly pleased with a second consecutive clean sheet from our first two competitive games,” he told SL10.
The Nigeria international who started his professional career from Israel also praised his centre defence partner Virgil Van Dijk who scored a brace in the encounter.
“I can play with Virgil with my eyes closed but seeing him score a brace is surprising, am glad he scored and he is every centre defender dream pair.”
Ambrose and Van Dijk were ever present in the Celtic back four that set a new league record of 1,155 minutes without conceding a league goal.
