Renault have announced Thierry Koskas will replace Jerome Stoll as the team’s head of their Formula 1 programme from next year.
The French manufacturer have set themselves the target of challenging for honours in F1 by 2021 and have decided to make a change at the top with Koskas, who has been their employee since 1997, stepping up to take charge.
The 54-year-old will takeover from Stoll, who has been working as president of the company’s motor sport division since March 2016, from January 2019 in the hope of aiding them take a step forward.
Koskas will report to Renault chairman Carlos Ghosn and oversee the work of managing director Cyril Abiteboul.
“After a season marked by the progress of the Renault Sport Formula 1 team, Thierry Koskas will aim to continue with Cyril Abiteboul, managing director of Renault Sport Racing, the work started by Jerome Stoll and bring the team to the highest level of the discipline,” A representative said in a statement.
