Nigeria Professional Football League champions, Enugu Rangers will look to make a big statement ahead of the new season when they face oriental rivals, FC IfeanyiUbah in the Charity Cup at the Abuja National Stadium on Wednesday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Peoples Elephant broke a 32-year title drought to emerge champions last season and will be desperate to show they are capable of mounting a successful title defence after coming second in the Super Four competition late last year.
Last season top scorer Chisom Egbuchulam is on his way out of the club with Bobby Clement and new signings like Bolaji Sakin and Daniel Etor angling to step into his shoe.
The Coal City side were held to a 1-1 draw by FC IfeanyiUbah the last time both teams met in December during the Super-4 Tournament.
Another tight affair is expected again but Rangers midfielder, Godwin Aguda is upbeat they will beat their opponent this time around.
"We are disappointed with the result of the game the last time we played against them (FC IfeanyiUbah), but we have another chance to show we are better than them," Aguda told Complete sportsnigeria.com.
"It's important we win the Cup to prove our readiness for the season which we expect to be tougher than the last one."
It will Brazilian coach, Rafael Everton' first real test since his return to the club.
