Chelsea Hand Debut To Nigerian Youngster

–In Five-Goal Thriller

Ola Aina followed in the footstep of fellow Anglo Nigerian and Chelsea teammate Dominic Solanke as he made his first professional appearance for Chelsea in their 3-2 win over AFC Wimbledon.

Aina replaced Todd Kane at right back from the team that thrashed Wycombe Wanderers5-0 on Wednesday.

However, what would have been a dream debut for him was soiled as he was part of the Chelsea first half defence team who conceded twice in the first 45 minutes.

Though Chelsea turned it around in the second half to win 3-2, the 18-year-old knows he needs to improve on his positioning and marking if he is to force his way into the thoughts of manager Jose Mourinho.

Aina has already made clear his intention to play senior international football for Nigeria in the future but his colleague Dominic Solanke who was a second half substitute in the tie is yet to commit his international future to either England or Nigeria.

Solanke was top scorer at the European under-18 for England but he wasn’t among the goals as John Terry and Mohammed Salah goals helped Chelsea clinch the tie.
