Chelsea continue to be linked with a swoop for Juventus defender Daniele Rugani, but the Italians will fight to keep hold. New Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri knows the defender well from his time in charge of Napoli, while he also worked with him at Empoli, and reports have been rife for some time suggesting he is a top target.
Chelsea are thought to have failed with a substantial bid that was rejected by Juve in the summer, but that will not stop them from making a fresh approach in the new year.
The Italian champions are now set to react by offering him a bumper new deal, in the hope that will be enough to keep him at the Allianz Stadium for the long-term.
Rugani already has a contract running for the next three years so Juve are in a strong position. However getting him tied down to a longer deal on bigger wages, will make it even stronger.
Sarri will be looking to make further additions in the January window and a bid for Rugani could be on the cards.
