Cherries Set To Renew Mepham Interest

Cherries Set To Renew Mepham Interest

Bournemouth are set to renew their interest in highly-rated Brentford defender Chris Mepham during the January transfer window. The Cherries are believed to be long-term admirers of the Wales international, who has been a regular in the Brentford first-team since making his league debut last season.

Indeed, Bournemouth reportedly failed with a £10million bid for Mepham during the summer, although that does not appear to have deterred boss Eddie Howe, who could make the 20-year-old centre-back his number one priority in January.

Bournemouth’s need to sign Mepham may also be heightened by the recent speculation linking Nathan Ake with a move away from the Vitality Stadium, as he has been touted for a potential transfer to either Manchester United or Tottenham.

Mepham could well act as an ideal replacement for Ake, although Bournemouth are not the only Premier League club watching former Chelsea youngster, as Leicester have also been credited with an interest.
