Chief Of Staff Quells Falcons Protest, Promises Allowances Payment

The Chief of Staff to President Muhammad Buhari, Abba Kyari on Wednesday assured the aggrieved Nigeria women national team, the Super Falcons, that they will be paid their entitlements in two days, reports.

The Super Falcons embarked on a protest march at the entrance of the National Assembly Complex in Abuja on Wednesday morning, agitating for their outstanding allowances and bonuses estimated to be $24,000 each, approximately N11.5m per player.

And Kyari who was at the venue to calm the nerves of the players, assured them that the team will be paid all their allowances on or before Friday December 16 2016, a reliable eye witness revealed to

"You girls will be paid in two days time," source qouted Kyari as saying to the girls.

The protest saw the the Super Falcons – the current Women's AFCON champions carrying placards with several messages lasted for one hour and thirty minutes before the arrival of the Chief of Staff to President Buhari. 

But according to a team official of the Super Falcons, the protest was a wrong move.

"They were ill advised," she posited. 

"Nobody said they won't be paid their outstanding allowances and bonuses, but there's already an agenda. However,  let's see how it turns out."

One player who participated in the protest explained to on condition of anonymity, that they are owed too at club level, and will go to any length to see they receive all their entitlement.
