Rohr should seriously consider inviting the experienced Martins

A well seasoned National couch should be looking your way by now Obagoal, especially at a time of national crisis such as Nigeria is going through at the moment. These is no striker in the Land. Oba-goal, come and rescue us. When was the last time a Nigerian striker produced a hat-trick in a single League match ? l say when. ?

    • Chamberlain 3 years ago

Interestingly Martins was invited at the early days of Rohr. He came to camp and must have been evaluated by Rohr. Maybe he does not fit into Rohr’s style of team pshycology. I see Rohr inviting the likes of Sadiq Umar, paul etc.

      • Ikeben 3 years ago

Not true, Rohr has never invited him. It was late Stephen Keshi that did before the last world cup. He only played him for 45mins and never invited him again. Truth be told, Obafemi has been really unlucky with national team coaches, even when he was in his prime, I really don’t know why. From Siasia, Keshi, Olisa and now Rohr, they all ignore him, no matter how many goals he scored. And he keeps scoring, from Newcastle, laliga, mls and now China he is still banging in the goals. Ride on bro, even they ignore you, history will remember you.

        • I really really like your comment. This has being my opinion ever since. Martins has been unlucky with our coaches even when he was still scoring. For a player to have scored 19 goals in just few games and few years he played for the national team, don’t we think the guy would have surpassed Yeking’s record if invited often and relied upon like some strikers in our national team? Not the kind of strikers we have now, the guy is better than them all. Martins is a workaholic striker even if the midfielders are not playing well, he will hustle for the ball. Seriously, the guy needs to be considered.

Ighalo and the likes are not a match to Obagoal, it’s high time he is invited based on how prolific and experienced he is.

Chamberlain shut up you dey lie…… Martin’s is the head no coach can turn down

  • Greenturf 3 years ago

Our problem is not in the attack rather in the midfield. The solution is having ball playing midfielders in the team then every other departments should function.
Meanwhile the likes of Azubuike Okechukwu,Usman Shehu,Mikel Obi,John Ogu and tireless Etebo are all good possession wise.
In the last fifa windows we had two games to forget.Prior to that there was a huge optimism of our team and expectations was sky high until after the pair of games against Poland & Serbia which unfortunately crushed every hope from the fans perspective. How things can turn around so quickly.
However if the coaches can identify the problem in the team and are able to profer solutions and timely as we got little time otherwise we may bid Russia goodbye as early as the first round.

    • I disagree, Martins is a kind of striker that makes the midfield play well, he falls back and contribute in the midfield as well. Not the kind of strikers we have now, the guy is better than them all. Martins is a workaholic striker even if the midfielders are not playing well, he will hustle for the ball. Seriously, the guy needs to be considered.

  • Most of the strikers we have now are ones that rely so much on the midfielders to pass to them. We can’t compare Martins world class goals to Ighalo’s pass and tap in. They are incomparable. Martins can play shot and score from any angle. Ighalo only rely on passes most times even when he was at Watford.

If I may ask,hw many goals has this ighalo scored as a striker for d super eagles in recent past nd presently.iheanacho has more goals return than him,and Gernot Rohr is electing him as first choice striker.we may just end up heartbroken, frustrated nd embarrassed at the world cup.u need experienced, deadly nd no nonsense attackers at grandest stage of them all like the world cup.with players like obafemi martins we ve got a chance

  • I don’t knw why a manager will have good an experience striker like this,an ignore him, talking about scoring, martins his better than him, even everything in this life, martins is better than him, during time of qualified period how many goal as he score for super eagle?will lack striker with martins in the super eagle….most of are guy’s is young with experience, if will can have Mikel in the mid fire then martins in the froward..pls invite him, will need him.

  • QUALITY 3 years ago

Not untill you say much about him,his performance has been speaking for him eversince he has started playing football aside from Rasheed yeekeni, obafemi martins record as a striker was absolutely magnificent in both home and various club side he has been playing for. Pls ride on a great philanthropist, can’t beg on your behalf anymore cos God has bless you in abundance. if they invite you i will be glad

  • Yu see Messi coming in to safe baca from sevilla. Dat a striker any day. In Kenya worlcup qualifier in d olden days ie going to south Africa den .amodu kept obagoal on bench and yak was on . History 2010A .if not for obagoal niger can never qualify o .In d days of wetehof and bonferejo u must be scoring in yur club to get invitation to eagles. But now d opposite is d case . Even sadiq umar scoring every week no talk to call him up. Instead na lookman etc we dey beg to come go play w cup .me too dey come beg me .I m sitting on bench here in sarvejo in England

  • Chamberlain 3 years ago

All these talks about Martins???…have you wondered why past coaches were not consistent with him? He just had little or no call-ups. There must be something they see that we don’t see. For this same reason, I am not surprised Rohr has ignored him. However, he can try-out Dressers (not sure while Belgium didn’t invite him if he was that great). He can also try Adi and Paul. He watched Sadiq closely at the Olympics, he must have seen something that we don’t know.

Lets not forget that Rohr also has viewing access for monitoring these guys in their league matches. He sees them…there must be a reason why they are not called-up.

Lets continue to support and believe in our coach…he is more concerned about the team than you and I. He wants the best players possible much more than you and I. I wants to succeed much more than you and I wants.

Whether Dresser, Adi, martins, Paul or Sadiq is called up or not…our most important emphasis now (78 days to World cup) should be consolidating on team chemistry, Cohesion, Psychology, style, pattern, tactics that makes for a good team. We must emphasis on improved team work and cohesion.

Obagoal as not been lucky when it come to the national team in him we have a striker that can score with both feet. He has speed and can play behind Ighalo effectively well. Check his assist in all the teams he played for if he is not scoring he is helping other strikers getting the goal. Obagoal is a workaholic and this should be the best time to invite him as he cannot be at the next world after this one. Lets make use of him now that he is hot has experience on his side in term scoring goal. Please Coach Rohr invite Obagoal just this once.
