Former Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins bagged a brace as Shanghai Shenhua thrashed fellow Nigerian striker Anthony Ujah’s Liaoning Hongyun 8-1 in the Chinese Super League on Friday.
Anthony Ujah scored Liaoning Hongyun’s only goal.
Fredy Guarin opened scoring for Shanghai in the 10th minute, Martins made it 2-0 in the 13th minute before an own goal from Xiantian Shi made it 3-0.
Martins scored his second goal of the match in the 31st minute to give Shanghai a 4-0 lead before Giovanni Andres Moreno got on the score sheet to make it 5-0.
Guarin grabbed Shanghai’s sixth goal on 43 minutes before Ujah scored on 62 minutes to bring the score to 6-1.
In the 65th minutte, Moreno netted his second goal of the game for Shanghai’s seventh goal before Lu Zhang rounded up the score with a 90th minute strike.
The goals were Martins’ fifth and sixth in seven appearances this season, while Ujah has now scored five goals in 12 appearances.
The win took Shanghai to seventh on 19 points in the 16-team league.
Liaoning Hongyun occupy the 13th spot on 13 points.
