By Oladimeji Loko in Rio:
Nigeria's Olympics campaign in table tennis is over.
On a night the International Olympic Committee, IOC and the International Tennis Federation ITF honoured tennis veteran, Segun Toriola, Nigeria's men team comprising, Aruna Quadri, Segun Toriola himself and Bode Abiodun failed to find answers to the Chinese, crashing to a 3-0 loss.
Though the loss was not unexpected, China, the defending Olympic champions gave Nigeria no room to operate, cruising to 3-0 win against Nigeria's Toriola and the reverse doubles which featured the pair of Toriola and Abiodun.
Quadri who played the second game was the only player who forced a fourth set against Ma Long ending their match at 3-1.

With the defeat, Table Tennis event has ended for Nigeria at these Games with team ranked 9th. The women's team did not qualify for the team event.
China were represented by Ma Long, Xu Xin and Zhang Jike.
The high point of the night however, was the introduction of Toriola by the announcer. He was later called out for a brief award ceremony as the only African to have participated in seven Olympics.
