Former Super Eagles coach Christian Chukwu has expressed disappointment with Nigeria’s 0-0 draw with the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in Wednesday’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Cape Town.
The African champions failed to sparkle in a game practically dominated by South Africa and as a result, failed to secure a win in this phase of the qualifiers. And the former Nigeria coach says he’s disappointed with the outcome.
“I’m quite disappointed we didn’t win, honestly. I thought it was a game we should have won but we didn’t,” he told sl10.ng.
Chukwu, who coached the Super Eagles between 2002 and 2005, said the players didn’t show enough bite.
“I thought we didn’t show enough bite and didn’t really trouble the South Africans. There were no real chances created and the strikers felt slightly isolated.”
Speaking on the possibility of qualifying for the championship, Chukwu reckoned it will no longer easy.
“It’s difficult now, because Congo and South Africa have more points than us and we still have to play in Brazzaville and Sudan.
“We have home games against Sudan and South Africa and we should focus on getting the results in those games,” he said.
