By Adeboye Amosu
Samuel Chukwueze hopes he will get the chance to make his debut for the Super Eagles in Saturday’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture against South Africa, reports Completesportsnigeria. com.

Chukwueze, 18, has impressed for Spanish side, Villarreal this season following his promotion to the first team set-up.

The former U-17 World Cup winner scored his first LaLiga goal in Villarreal’s 2-2 away draw against Rayo Vallecano last weekend.

His impressive showing for the Yellow Submarines has caught the eye of Nigeria head coach, Gernot Rohr who handed him his maiden call-up to the Super Eagles.

Chukwueze linked up with his international teammates on Tuesday in Asaba for the game billed for the FNB Stadium, Johannesburg.

A win for the three-time African champions against the Bafana Bafana would seal their return to the AFCON finals which hold next year in Cameroon, and the teenager hopes to play a part.

“I’m so happy to be invited to the Super Eagles and I’m hoping to have a chance to play against South Africa,” Chukwueze stated in a short video posted on official Twitter handle of the Super Eagles.

“I hope our fans will come out to support us fully so that we have the ticket to the Nations Cup next year.”

If Pele could do it for Brazil. If Kechi could do it for Nigeria. David Owen and so on and so on could all do it for their beloved Nations, So, you too can walk into the National Team called Super Eagle of Nigeria and seal it too.

The young man is really pushing for a place in the starting line up on saturday. Sam Kalu’s late arrival has effectively confined him to at best, the bench…Oyinbo man nor dey like lateness…even if na for good reason. I fancy Rohr throwing Chukwueze into the fray sometime in the match…be it form a winning or from a losing position. Such a precocious talent is best unveiled as a joker. Use him to catch your opponents unawares, just the way frank rijkaard unveiled Messi to the world many years ago. His speed, dribbles and intelligence will best be utilized when the SA defence is beginning to wear out.
