Nottinghamshire have completed the signing of England Lions batsman Joe Clarke from County Championship rivals Worcestershire.
The 22-year-old has put pen to paper on a four-year deal at Trent Bridge and confirmation of his move comes just two days after he was relegated from Division One of the County Championship.
Clarke recently celebrated winning the Twenty20 Cup with Worcestershire but he has opted to leave the county where he began his career.
The right-hander becomes Notts’ fourth signing ahead of the 2019 season. with Ben Duckett arriving from Northants, Ben Slater coming in from Derbyshire and all-rounder Zak Chappell making the switch from Leicestershire.
Notts director of cricket Mick Newell believes the signing of Clarke is another shrewd piece of business by the county, particularly as they will be looking to challenge for a first County Championship title since 2010 next season.
“We’re very pleased that Joe has decided to join us,” Newell told the Trent Bridge website. “He’s a very good young player with a great record already behind him.”Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
