By James Agberebi: Holders Real Madrid prevented what would have been a major shock as they came from a goal down to beat home team Al-Jazira 2-1 in the second semi-final of the 2017 FIFA Club World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Wednesday.
This will be Madrid’s third final in the last four editions (2014 and 2016) and they will be gunning for their third Club World Cup title.
After holding out in the early part of the game, Al-Jazira took a surprise lead in the 41st minute through Romarinho after the Video Assistant Referee had cancelled out a Real Madrid goal.
The VAR also cancelled what would have given Al Jazira a 2-0 lead before Real Madrid equalised.
Madrid were back on level terms thanks to star forward Cristiano Ronaldo who struck in the 53rd minute.
Ronaldo’s goal against Al-Jazira makes him the all-time leading scorer in the Club World Cup on six goals.
And in the 81st minute, Gareth Bale scored the winner to send Madrid into the final where they will meet Brazilian side Gremio on Saturday.
In the first semi-final played on Tuesday, Gremio edged Mexico’s Pachuca 1-0 following a 95th minute goal by Everton.Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
