Seychelles head coach, Gavin Jeanne, has nothing but praise for his players despite their 3-O home defeat to Nigeria in Saturday’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match in Victoria, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The defeat to the Super Eagles was the Pirates’ second in Group E following their matchday one 5-1 humiliation at the hands of Libya.
Ahmed Musa, Chidozie Awaziem and Odion Ighalo were all target for Nigeria in the game.
Jeane’s men were on the back foot for almost the duration of the game and threatened to score only once through Perry Monnaie in the 62nd minute.
The gaffer expressed satisfaction with the efforts of his players in the encounter majority of whom are part-time footballers.
“I really appreciate the efforts of the players in a very tough match where we tried to stay compact and avoid conceding in the first half,” Jeanne told reporters after the game.
“We could not keep them at bay though we had a go at them in the second period. I must congratulate our supporters who were really behind the team and also the players who gave their maximum.”
