COD’s Screening Programme Thrills Aluko

Nigeria international Sone Aluko has hailed COD United's screening programme organized for kids under the age of 16 years.

The screening exercise which took place on Saturday June 13, at the Legacy pitch, National Stadium, Lagos, had kids from different clubs taking part.

In a chat with Complete Sports, Aluko who is the ambassador for COD United, described the exercise it as an avenue for the kids to exhibit their talent.

"You don't get things like this very often. In the space of 24 hours you see over a thousand boys here, all of them being watched, being screened, maybe one day joining COD United. so I think it is a very good opportunity for them."

The Hull City forward stated that he is enjoying his ambassadorial role for COD.

"It has been very enjoyable, I have had the chance to play with many of the children, speak to them to see and help them connect with their dream. When I was young I use to dream of becoming a premier league player. I live in the UK, but for me to be able to talk to them, help make the dream closer."

Aluko who gave reasons why he decided to link up with COD, said he hopes the partnership will last for years to come.

"I have always been a player that since football has given me so much, it is my responsibility to give back to the society, especially in Nigerian football. There is so much talent here. COD shared my own value and as a player I am someone who likes to give back to the society. As we all know in Nigeria there is so much talent and like I said COD shares the same values with me so that was the reason I decided to be an ambassador for them.

"I expect it to keep growing, I will keep in connect with the team, the coaching staff and the manager as well. So I expect the relationship to keep growing naturally and we will see where it goes."
