Coleman Says Everton Still Have Work To Do

Everton defender Seamus Coleman says the team can get better under Marco Silva after battering Burnley 5-1. The Toffees dismantled the Clarets at Turf Moor on Boxing Day, as three goals from Yerry Mina, Lucas Digne, and Gylfi Sigurdsson in the first 22 minutes of the game saw Everton grab the three points in an easy win.

Everton are eighth in the Premier League and bounced back well from their 6-2 hammering at home to Tottenham on Sunday.

Marco Silva sent his team out at Burnley with an attacking intent, with a front three of Theo Walcott, Bernard, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, affording the luxury of leaving Richarlison on the bench.

And Coleman says Silva is adopting an enjoyable attacking mentality, and says they can still get even better. “The confidence was there. The manager keeps telling us to believe in ourselves, to keep playing with a smile on our faces. At times we did that,” Coleman told PA Sport. “I thought there were periods in the game where we were very good, periods where we weren’t so good but it’s a work in progress and we want to keep getting better throughout the season.”
