Ex-England striker Stan Collymore has stated that Sam Allardyce's managerial success at Bolton Wanderers with big stars like former Super Eagles skipper, Austin Okocha and former France World Cup winner Youri Djorkaeff, will see him achieve good results as England manager.
Following the sacking of Roy Hodgson after England's dismal outing at the Euro 2016, Allardyce has been tipped to take over as the Three Lions new manager.
Aside Allardyce, former Manchester United skipper, Steve Bruce, is also reportedly in the race for the vacant job.
Commenting in his article published on mirror.co.uk, Collymore, who also featured for Liverpool during his playing career, posited that Allardyce's ability to lure Okocha and Djorkaeff to Bolton, will work in his favour if given the England job.
"Whenever I speak to pals in the game about the Sunderland manager, the feedback is that he is an intimidating, physically powerful character," Collymore wrote.
"He is quite good fun, but he’s also a bit of a dictator in the classic mould of a Sir Alex Ferguson, an Arsene Wenger, a David Moyes.
"Furthermore, he knows English football very, very well. He knows what fans want and players like Wayne Rooney and Dele Alli would enjoy working with him, just as Jay-Jay Okocha and Youri Djorkaeff did at Bolton.
"They weren’t in their prime (Okocha and Djorkaeff) when Big Sam took them to the north west. But they were still big stars and neither would have performed as they did had he not convinced them he knew what he was on about.
"Rooney and Co would, I think, give Allardyce the respect he deserves, given the number of games he has managed."
