Favour Agboro missed the chance to clinch Nigeria’s first medal at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia in the men’s weightlifting event on Thursday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports..
In the 62kg final standings, Agboro finished fifth in a field of 14 contestants after a total lift of 268kg.
The gold medal was won by Muhammad Aznil Bidin of Malaysia who lifted 288kg.
Morea Baru of Papua New Guinea claimed silver with a lift of 286kg while the bronze medal was won by Talha Talib of Pakistan who did 283kg.
Earlier on Thursday, Monica Uweh of Nigeria finished in fifth position in the women’s 48kg category of the weightlifting event.
