Complete Sports Cruise To SWAN Cup Q/Finals

Nigeria’s foremost sports daily, Complete Sports, on Tuesday booked a place in the quarter-finals of the on-going SWAN Cup football competition.

The Okota Bombers, who were without their established stars like Kayode Ogundare, Wale Ajose and Babatunde Alao, played a 1-1 draw in their opening game against Top Radio but bounced back in their second game, defeating News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) 2-0.

The 2012 SWAN champions however played out a goalless draw against defending champions SportsDay to set up a quarter-final clash with COOL FM on Thursday.

Complete Sports interim coach Johnny Edward is desperate to match the 2012 feat achieved by his predecessor Bamidele Boluwaji by regaining the trophy.

“We have lost out twice in the quarter-finals in the last two editions and going past this stage will surely boost our chances of winning the trophy for the second time in four years,” Johnny said.

Meanwhile, the Group Managing Director of the Complete Communications Limited, publishers of Complete Sports and Isoccer, Mr Mumini Alao, himself an accomplished footballer, has promised to reward the team if they emerge victors in the competition.
