CONFIRMED: Mikel, Moses, Ighalo Return For Cameroon Clash; Omeruo, Onyekuru On Stand-by

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has invited fit-again captain Mikel Obi and forward Odion Ighalo and handed a first call-up to Israel-based Anthony Nwakaeme as he released his list of players for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixtures with Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions.

The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed the squad on their official website on Tuesday.
Centre-back Leon Balogun also returns after missing the World Cup qualifier against Algeria and the Africa Cup qualifier against South Africa, while Chelsea’s Victor Moses is also back after sitting out the clash with Bafana Bafana in June due to injury.

Rohr has also called up regulars like goalkeepers Daniel Akpeyi, Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Dele Alampasu, defenders William Ekong, Elderson Echiejile and Abdullahi Shehu, midfielders Ogenyi Onazi, John Ogu, Wilfred Ndidi and Oghenekaro Etebo, and forwards Ahmed Musa, Moses Simon, Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho.

Nigeria host African champions to the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Friday, 1 September, before flying to Yaounde for the return leg on Monday, 4th September.

  • Y musa and iheanacho

  • Finally Nigerian have gotten a right back ola Alina

    • handsy 4 years ago

Has he (ola AINA) been cleared by fifa yet?
Because the last time I read about him he wasn’t cleared!

  • what of Joel obi, bonaventure and ceriel dessers ?

  • Correct team. Rhor, please start Victor Moses, Anthony Nwaeekeme and Simon Moses in front. Let Musa and Iheanacho come in with about 20 minutes to the end. Make sure to start Ola Aina at the back too.

Play a starting 3-3-4: Front: Victor Moses, Simon Moses and Anthony Nwaekeme.
Midfield: Ndidi, Mikel and Etebo (Onazi to come in for Mikel and Ogu to replace Etebo later).

Back 4: Echiejile, Balogun, Troost Ekong and Ola Aina.

Then, we are good to go. I predict 4-1 to Nigeria. Don’t worry, they only have Vincent Aboubakar.

  • Musa and iheanacho don’t deserve a call – up at the moment

moses simon is not inform for now so i wonder why he was picked ahead of his team mate samuel kalu who is playing regularly and doing well too ?
anyway maybe it might be based on experience though which is not bad .
