Completesportsnigeria.com has scooped that the fates of coaches Zachary Baraje and Maurice Cooreman as to who leads Akwa United in the 2015/2016 season will be decided on Monday.
Baraje led the club to their first ever cup win following a 2-1 victory over Lobi Stars of Makurdi in the Federation Cup in Lagos in November.
While he had endured frosty working relationship with the hierarchy of the club, threatening at some point to walk away, Maurice Cooreman added more feathers to his cap by helping Ikorodu United gain promotion to the elite league.
Cooreman, a Belgian who arrived in Nigeria in 1999 with stints at Nigerdock, Gabros International, Lobi Stars, Bendel Insurance, NPA (now Warri Wolves), Enyimba and Kaduna United, was recently linked to a move to Akwa United ahead of next season's domestic and continental campaigns.
But chairman of the Federation Cup winners, Nse Ube, exclusively told Completesportsnigeria.com on Friday that all issues at the club including who the coach will be will be addressed on Monday.
"Right now the club is on vacation and will resume on Monday," Ube told Completesportsnigeria.com.
"So by Monday, we'll take a decision as to who the coach is as well as other issues affecting the club.
"I don't want to be drawn into the issue of whether we've hired Cooreman or retained Baraje.
"Why not wait till Monday when we will sit and take a decision as regards preparation for next season."
