Nigeria beach soccer team, The Super Sand Eagles began their Copa Lagos title defense the hard way after surviving Ghana scare in their opening match Friday in Lagos.
The Eagles took a comfortable 3-0 lead in the first quarter but their archrivals ralied round to cancel out the deficit.
With less than four minutes to end the last (4th) quarter, with scores at 5-5, Babatunde Badmus and Musa Najare scored to give the home side a deserved 7-5 win.
Nigeria coach, Adamu Ejor told Completesportsnigeria.com that indeed it was a victory eked the hard way.
“The Ghanaians gave us a scare. They have really raised their game unlike what we saw of them in Morocco last year,” Ejor remarked.
Ejor added that the age long rivalry beween the two West African countries also came into play.
“Don’t forget we don’t have beach soccer league here unlike Ghana. They have improved several times over what we saw of them last year.
“And don’t forget too that there is that rivalry between them and us in all areas of sports and this also played out today”, Ejor stated.
