Burnley midfielder Jack Cork insists he will wait until Christmas time before paying any attention to the Premier League table.
The 29-year-old and his Clarets team-mates could not get anything going early on and sat bottom of the top-flight standings, having taken just one point from their first five games.
An early start to proceedings, with six Europa League fixtures, was blamed but now they are out of that competition, the Lancashire outfit have secured back-to-back league wins to move up to 12th spot.
The teams are now finding their place in the table and mid-division is tight, with five points separating 10th from 17th, and Cork admits Burnley’s change of fortune has come around in a flash.
“It’s crazy. We were bottom of the league two weeks ago and now two wins gets you six points and we’re 12th in the table,” he said. “It’s crazy how quickly things can change at the start of the season.”
However, there is still a long way to go and the former Swansea man feels clubs only get a sense of where they might end up at the midway point of the campaign.
“We’re seven games in and we’ve got seven points,” he added. “You can only start looking at the league table around Christmas time. It’s gone from a bad start to an okay start now. We just need to keep building on that.”Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
