Costa Gets Three-Match Ban, Gabriel Escapes

Diego Costa has been given a three-game ban by the Football Association for his clash with Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny on Saturday.

The Spaniard initially escaped punishment for his tussle with the Frenchman in the first half of Saturday’s Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge.

However, Costa was subsequently charged by the FA after the incident, which was missed by referee Mike Dean, although it was caught on video.

The FA announced the decision in a statement released on Tuesday night.
The statement reads: “An FA charge against Diego Costa for violent conduct not seen by the match officials but caught on video has been found proven following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing.

“The Chelsea forward will, therefore, serve the standard penalty of a three-match suspension with immediate effect.

“The charge, which the player denied, was in relation to an incident involving Arsenal’s Laurent Koscielny in the 43rd minute of the game on Saturday.”

Meanwhile, Arsenal defender Gabriel Paulista has had his red card rescinded upon appeal, thereby escaping an automatic three-match ban for a straight red card.
However, Gabriel could still face a ban or fine on a separate FA charge of improper conduct after refusing to leave the pitch after being sent off. He has until 6pm on Thursday to respond.

Decision by the FA an absolute joke. mourinho must be laughing his head off. chelsea get the points and lose costa for three easy games. Separate point, anybody else think costas behaviour could be steroid related.

  • @eezzee, I totally agree with you. Costa, ok got the 3 points but that is not the point. So the right thing is that Chelsea also lose the points. That would be nice. Ok? The point here is that a league has got the balls to tell Costa and Mourinho that violence in football is bad. Wrong! Not acceptable. Does anyone think this guy will not remember this for the rest of his life? It’s a shame on Mourinho that he supports bad. He loves doing evil things like disrespecting elders, sacking a doctor for doing the right thing, etc. Justice has been done. Costa has the 3 points. No WAHALA as they are on 15th on the log. He misses 3 matches. Gabriel has no red card. Eva will sue Mourinho and Chelsea.

Yes, Chelsea keep the points but mou should take this as a warning. He’s full of insolence and strive in controversy. From now on,football World will screen his conducts and that of his players.
